Sale 1127 Lot 83
Birdstone, Porphyry, Topknot: Made of gray granite with large phenocrysts. This is the fourth topknot bird recognized by Townsend when he acquired it in 1990, and it is the only specimen of porphyry. The body of this topknot is angled in such a manner that a ridge was not needed on the front of the base, only the rear. Perforation started in the front and no evidence of drilling in the rear; small area of damage to lower left side of the tail, otherwise good condition. 2 3/4 x 1 1/2 Eaton Co. Michigan Found in May of 1985 by Cedric Root in Sunfield Twp. Pictured in WW#9 page 356. T5293 |
